Office Hours 9:00 am - 5:00 pm 810-231-1333 ext 119
The Treasurer of Green Oak Township is an elected position as is the Supervisor and Clerk. Most of the duties for the Treasurer's position are regulated and dictated by the State of Michigan.
The Township Treasurer's Statutory Duties are to collect real and personal property taxes, administer special assessment districts (S.A.D.), issue dog licenses, keep an account of township receipts (revenues) and expenditures, issue township checks, deposit township revenues in approved depositories, invest township funds in approved investment vehicles, collect delinquent personal property tax, be responsible for jeopardy assessments in collecting property tax, and to collect mobile home specific taxes. The Treasurer must post a surety bond.
In addition the Treasurer must appoint a Deputy Treasurer. The Deputy Treasurer must also be bonded. Deputy township officials are authorized to act as the elected official in the event of the official's absence, sickness, death or other disability. A deputy may not, however, vote as a member of the township board. With the official's approval and the consent of the township board, a deputy may assist the elected official at any additional times agreed to by the board and the official. Deputies are not required to be residents of the township, and may be paid compensation as determined by the township board.

DOG LICENSE
What's New for 2011?
We have a new three-year dog license option. All dog licenses will now expire on the same month as the rabies expiration date. One year licenses will still be available. There will be a transition period since the new three year license requires that the vaccination must be valid for the entire three year period. Please note that your 2010 dog license will extend to the MONTH of your current rabies expiration date. For example, if your rabies expires in June 2012, you will need to get a 1 year license in June 2011 and be eligible for the three year license in June 2012. Rabies vaccines can be renewed anytime in the MONTH in which it expires.
Dog License Fees:
Male/Female Spayed/Neutered Puppy
1 Year $25.00 $7.00 $7.00
3 Year $60.00 $21.00 N/A
A late fee of $15.00 will be added to the price of a dog license 30 days after the due date of a new license. There will be no refunds or prorated licenses for any reason.
